• The hand hewn beamed great room features a soaring stone fireplace, dining room and an open country kitchen complete with farm sink, granite counter tops, stone arch over a custom brass and stainless steel hood to match the "La Cornue" range. An island and peninsula give more than ample storage and prep area. Just off the kitchen is the enclosed outdoor dining area with a partial glass roof, this room has a stone fireplace and ceiling fan. Perfect for entertaining. The floors and stairs throughout the 1st floor are hand scraped, wide plank hickory with a custom 5 step finish.
• A pair of French doors leads into the cozy library lined with custom bookcases, a window seat, full guest bath, and a unique, handmade tile fireplace. Another pair of doors opens onto an enclosed screened porch with the hot tub. The covered veranda runs the full length of the cottage, accessible from every room on the main floor. At one end of the veranda, a commercial gas barbeque grill is built into custom cabinetry with tile accents.
• The upstairs Master Bedroom has a walk in closet, and its own deck sheltered by glass railings. The master bath is beautiful with a marble topped double sink vanity, river pebble and marble tiled shower. The pedestal tub niche has an arched, iridescent glass tiled ceiling. Next to the tub is a shuttered window. Open it while you're in the tub to take in the lake views. Also, there is a private toilet room and linen closet. There are two other bedrooms; one featuring a custom bunk bed/trundle (sleeps 4), built-in book shelves, drawer storage and a flat screen TV niche. Custom milled bead board paneling in the bedrooms and throughout the upstairs hallway. A striking wood staircase centers this cottage, the iron railing spindles were hand finished by one of our local artists.
• The lower level is entertainment central! A media space is flanked by a day lit bedroom and full bath on one side and a laundry/craft space on the other. Extra storage rooms and closets for all those necessities. An entry door leads you into a stone lined outdoor shower with a stair up to the bluff, beach and Lake Michigan.
• The exterior details of Pine Cone Cottage include custom woodworking in the corbels, cedar shingles and lap siding, copper gutters, diamond mullioned windows, bluestone entry and stone walls.
